Coconut + Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwiches

About a month ago I stumbled upon the Toasted Coconut Cookie Thins from Trader Joe's you see in the picture above. On their own, they're a yummy treat with coffee or tea any time of the day. But with chocolate, they're incredible. Since one of my favorite combinations is coconut and chocolate (hello Bounty Bars!), I decided a little chocolate ice cream would be the perfect pair for these thin cookies. I just scooped about a tablespoon of Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream in the middle of one cookie and topped it off with the other. They are so crunchy, bite sized and delicious. I've served them several times since then and they've been a hit each time. Try them out and see what you think!

Hope you all have a wonderful week and fabulous Labor Day weekend!

A Nice View

Since I have literally hundreds of photos from our France trip, I wanted to share a few more shots of Nice. It all seems like such a long time ago now and I'd literally do anything to be transported back there for a (long) weekend. Here's a little stroll down the South of France memory lane...
Rain or shine, Nice is so beyond gorgeous and full of swanky bars and restaurants. I love how you can just pop in some little place, grab some wine and small plates and feel right at home.  Not to mention the flaky croissants and donuts you can find on most every street corner. It's like Paris on the beach!
One thing I highly recommend if you're in the area is visiting the little village of Eze. It's tucked in the coastline and is a wonderful place to tour for a few hours. There are local shops where you can buy artwork, food and clothes and then there's Fragonard perfumerie which is a must-see. They make the most amazing diffuser in a Coral scent. The real highlight is the views like the one above.
Of course we had to make a stop in Monaco to experience the glitz and glamour! They were actually setting up for the Grand Prix when we went so it felt a bit like we were race car drivers in our tiny car...almost. The Monte Carlo hotel is gorgeous as you can see above, as is the surrounding town. Well worth a visit and maybe a lunch, but not the right place to stay.
The food was really quite good in Nice - we had everything from French to Italian to sushi and were never disappointed. Especially not with this chevre goat cheese salad we had for lunch.
One last shot of the beautiful beach where we spent our last day sunning ourselves before heading over to Cinque Terre.

New House + New Design

Well it's been quite a while since my last post...nearly a month! Lately I've been spending most of my time catching up with friends, getting up to speed with my job and decorating our new place. These are a few photos from our flat in the Marina, just a block back from Marina Boulevard. It's bigger than we're used to and we still can't quite get used to not being able to hear each other in different rooms (city people will understand how great this is!). It feels very tranquil inside and even the walk from Chestnut St. is very calm and neighborhoody. Right now the whole place feels very white and mahogany since we really only have the basics, so I'm focusing on bringing color into each room as well as fun accent pieces. I've been stalking One Kings Lane, and Joss & Main quite regularly and am eyeing a few things. We'll see if I get up the courage to purchase!

On a side note, it feels so good to be blogging again, especially because I've got a new little design thanks to Kelly at Fabulous K! I worked with her to create a fresh look and I must say, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out! Feels very me :)
